Network Design and Service
Since 2000, LANtek began providing computer equipment and network service to this nonprofit child welfare agency. When they wanted to connect two buildings, separated by fifty feet and a paved lot, LANtek installed antennas and created a wireless network. LANtek has grown their LAN to a WAN by connecting 14 regional offices in two states via Citrix.
In 2008, LANtek migrated the entire enterprise from Novell and GroupWise to Outlook and Microsoft products. Over the years, LANtek has provided and supported servers, email, firewalls and security for this network, and monitors their system and provides service both onsite and remotely.
Broadband Wireless Network Access
LANtek has been providing break/fix service and product procurement since 2002 to this major company that provides independent refined petroleum products and pipeline systems. In 2007, the company moved their headquarters to a new facility seven miles away. LANtek developed a plan where their old system was used for backup and redundancy, and designed a broadband high-speed connection for both voice and data, using Motorola Canopy products and Line of Sight technology.
WorldDox: Legal Document Management
In 2002, LANtek demonstrated, sold and installed WorldDox at a major local law firm, and trained both attorneys and support staff. The firm uses this document management system to organize, search, retrieve and track revisions of all their documents. Since then, the firm has doubled the number of users, and LANtek has installed and supported two updates to the software.
Voice over IP Phones
In 2005, LANtek created a small network to allow this sustainable materials consultant to share files with a coworker. LANtek also provided remote network access for when the consultant travels. The company grew quickly, and when a key employee moved to Maryland, LANtek designed and installed a VoIP phone system that allowed them to work seamlessly as a single office – the coworker is now just an extension away, and can answer the phones when the office gets busy. An additional office is planned for Oregon, and LANtek is currently planning to provide a VoIP phone system to tie the new office to the home office.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred
LANtek has sold, installed and trained clients of a state agency that provides assistance to people with disabilities. Clients now using Dragon include people born with disabilities to a paralyzed victim of gun violence.
LANtek also has installed and trained clients of a second state agency to use Dragon Preferred as a part of their rehabilitation training program designed to help people with disabilities return to work and become self sufficient.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical
Beginning in January 2007, LANtek began providing Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical to doctors in clinics affiliated with with a major Lehigh valley regional hospital. As of October 2008, LANtek has installed and supported 150 doctors, and the rollouts are continuing.
"It's absolutely awesome," says the quality improvement analyst for the physicians. "I couldn't believe how much time it saves."
The anaylist is also doing the training for the doctors. "It doesn't take a lot of time for training," she added. "It's so much faster than trying to type, a big time-saving factor for the doctors."
